NLCC Progress and Achievements

In the 8 years of its existence, NLCC has experienced modest growth and has expanded from a congregation of entirely women and children to being at least 50% men as well. It was meeting in a rented abandoned fish factory for the first 4 years, and then built a temporary structure on 4 acres of undeveloped land which has been partially cleared. That building collapsed in a violent thunderstorm in January 2007 and has since been replaced.

NLCC was the starting point for the New Life Academy primary school, which was a ministry to orphans for 3 years, providing them with free education through donations and the school fees generated by 50% paying non-orphan students. The school was forced to close after 3 years due to nearby military activities, but will soon reopen.

NLCC has hosted 2 short term missions teams from the USA, one a medical team in 2003, the second one a teaching and ministry team from New Life Center in Everett, Washington, which did a training seminar for NLA and ministered in the refugee camps in northern Uganda’s war zone. NLCC continues to do neighborhood outreaches through pastoral visits, video nights, and village outreaches.

The community is becoming more aware of NLCC and the blessings associated with a relationship with Christ. For instance, in early September 2007, a girl walked about 2 miles to find New Life Center Church, per specific instructions of her parents. She had suffered from epilepsy for about 4 years, averaging at least 3 seizures a week. She had terrible burn scars on both legs, from falling into the fire. Her family had tried every from of witchcraft and traditional medicine to cure her, but had failed totally. Now they had told her that her only hope for healing was in Jesus, burned all their fetishes, and sent her to New Life Center Church for prayer. We laid hands on her and prayed, and she’s not had a seizure since then.

In 2008 New Life Centre Church started 3 overnight prayer groups in surrounding villages that have seen much fruit from their prayers, answered prayers for healings, salvations, for community and national concerns.

A Bible study was started this year in a village about 3 miles away which has no church. The book of John is the topic, and as a result of this outreach, there has been much church growth. Long range plans include starting a new church in that village.
